What is VARS?

VARS: VEHICLE ALERT RADAR SYSTEM is an unlimited range 360 degree GPS radar system that can detect and display the distance and direction of 3 other closest vehicles that are not in line of sight.

 

IT IS AN ACCIDENT PREVENTIVE SYSTEM.

THE PAIN/PROBLEM

  • Many cases of vehicle accident at high traffic area such as ports, factories, warehouses, and others worldwide.

  • This is due to blind spots (sharp corners) from buildings, equipment, shipping containers and transport containers.

  • The accidents causes injuries and fatalities and cost time and money for the parties involved.

ELEVATOR PITCH

VARS: VEHICLE ALERT RADAR SYSTEM is an unlimited range 360o GPS radar system that can detect and display the distance and direction of 3 other closest vehicles that are not in line of sight.

 

  • VARS is an ACCIDENT PREVENTIVE SYSTEM rather than an accident reactive system.

  • This is for use in areas that have heavy vehicles/vehicles with lots of blind spots (sharp corners).

  • Other competing solutions are expensive, limited in range, relies on line of sight, are accident reactive system and needs to be installed on the vehicle.

  • VARS only requires a single Android device on a phone mount with data connectivity.

CURRENT SOLUTION

  • Telemetry vehicle monitoring system does not warn drivers or prevent accidents.

  • 360 degrees LIDAR system is expensive and limited to 100 to 200 meters and cannot overcome blind spots.

  • Front camera and radar system used by ADAS system is limited to 160 meters in front only and cannot overcome blind spots.

  • 360 degrees camera system is also expensive and limited to 250 meters and cannot overcome blind spots.

  • All those needs to be installed on the vehicle.

  • LIDAR, ADAS and Autopilot are all accident reactive system.

  • Can be used for all types of vehicles.

  • Low cost because of commercial of the shelf hardware (COTS).

  • Requires Android smartphone, phone mount and data connectivity.

  • Easily installed on all types of vehicle (installed on dashboard).

  • Cover all types of collisions such as side and merge (other solutions does not cover beyond front and rear collisions).

  • Does not rely on line of sight (no blind spot problem).

  • Unlimited detection range (range can be set in system).

  • ACCIDENT PREVENTIVE SYSTEM

TECHNOLOGY

  • VARS is multiple clients to a server system using Android (clients) and Windows (server).

  • It provides its GPS radar functionality using network-centric, mobile, locationing, and COTS technology.

  • The VAR client uses built-in hardware components of an Android to provide real-time telemetry data for the GPS radar functionality.

  • To reduce information overload, only the closest 3 vehicles within the preset range will be displayed on the device.

  • The VARS client will display in real time, 3 separate arrows pointing to the direction of the 3 closest vehicles. The distance of the 3 closest vehicle will also be shown.

  • The VARS client will also speak out the direction and distance of the closest vehicle.

  • Besides directional arrow, the VARS client also supports offline maps where the 3 closest vehicles will be displayed, and the closest vehicle highlighted.

  • As of Mar 2024, VARS can DISPLAY THE CURRENT HEADING OF THE 3 CLOSEST VEHICLE on the map.

  • As of April 2024, VARS has an X-RAY VISION CAPABILITY to look through obstacles.
